Play Your Way, Every Day!

New – Active Kits Now Available at Bruce County Public Libraries!

As many parents know, local libraries are a great place to take young kids. In addition to rows of magnificent books, there are usually toys, programming, and other parents and caregivers grateful for a child-friendly spot.

Now there’s even more reason to love the library! The Grey Bruce Health Unit and Bruce County Public Library have partnered to launch a new county-wide project that allows library card holders to borrow  ‘Be Active Kits’, designed to help kids develop physical literacy by encouraging skills like jumping, running, skipping, balance, throwing, and catching.  The new Kits include Parachute play, Yoga, Games/Relay and Explore the Outdoors.

Designed for infants through to 6-year-olds, the Kits are patterned after reading literacy stages: you help develop your children’s physical literacy and age-appropriate goals just as you’d go from picture books to chapter novels. And just like a regular library book, you can sign it out for a few weeks at a time and even put one on hold. You can learn more about Physical Literacy principles under the resources section on the PLAY Bruce Grey website.

Head to your local Bruce County Public Library to place a hold on one of the new ‘Be Active’ kits to try today! https://library.brucecounty.on.ca/
